A Night to Remember at the Farm

Truthfully we think there’s always a bit of magic in the air here at the farm, especially in the fall. But this past Friday night there was a little extra.

We were lucky enough to play host to a private supper club, organized by The Apiary. Owner Cooper Vaughn reached out to us several months prior with the idea – his chef, Tony Yalnazov, and his staff have been buying from us at the farmers market for 10 years since The Apiary opened so our partnership has been many years in the making.

He’d been dreaming up the concept of an asada dinner at a local farm for many years and the day of the dinner he and his team truly brought his vision to life with lights, music, firepits with seating, farmhouse tables and chairs, a bar and serving area.

Though typical Kentucky fall weather threatened most of the day, minutes before the guests arrived the wind calmed, it warmed up and the clouds parted to show off the autumn sunset over the fields and later, the full, bright moon over the top of the 400 year old burr oak tree where everyone had gathered for dinner.

We’re also proud to say that almost every ingredient featured in the meal came straight from the farm. Passed appetizers included pork empanadas and burned tomato and ricotta bruschetta with parsley pesto. For mains we all enjoyed chicken thighs, a whole lamb, beef skirt steak, homemade pork belly sausage and swiss chard gratin, expertly grilled up by Chef Tony. Sides featured an assortment of roasted fall vegetables as well as frybread. And of course, dessert was not forgotten – we especially loved the pear and berry crumble!

All in all it was a night we surely won’t forget and we were honored to work with Cooper and his team to make it all happen.
