Meet Emery

We love getting to share with you about how your food is grown and raised but we figured we’d also share a bit more about the people who are behind it all – our team!

Next in our series is Emery! He got his Bachelors in Agricultural Economics from the University of Kentucky and is our Horticulture Production Manager here at the farm, keeping track of harvest schedules and overseeing planting.

We sat down with Emery to learn more about his varied roles on the farm, his hobbies outside of work and more:

What kinds of jobs do you do on the farm?

As the Horticulture Production Manager my main jobs are managing vegetable production from planting to coordinating harvests with the marketing team. I provide estimates for crop harvests twice a week so that the marketing team knows a range of what they have to offer to customers and I also oversee flower production and help design bouquets.

What do you love most about working on the farm?

I’ve loved building connections within our team and learning growing techniques that I was not previously familiar with.

What’s your favorite farm meal?

My favorite farm meal was the beef tongue stew that one of our team members made. It was amazing and I’ve never had anything like it.

What’s one thing you want people to know about Elmwood Stock Farm?

I want people to know how much we care about what we produce. We’re always thinking about how to give our customers the best products possible.

What’s your favorite Elmwood product?

I love our okra. My mother always cooked okra for my sister and I growing up and it’s so nice having it fresh.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I like to go to Cincinnati Reds games as much as I can, but I also love to fish and play frisbee golf. I like most outdoor activities.
