Anyone else feel that slight chill in the air? Admittedly, the majority of the weather we’ve been having here in our neck of the woods has still been screaming summer but believe it or not, fall is just around the corner.
That means back to school, the start of new (or refresh of old) routines, and generally getting back in the swing of things. The changing seasons also means a new assortment of seasonal produce to enjoy that lends itself well to hearty, stick to your ribs cooking that we love to enjoy when the air is crisp and the days grow shorter.
Highlights include squash (such as the popular delicata and butternut varieties), sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, and lots of leafy greens. This year we will also have the great fortune of enjoying apples and pears from our friends at Ela Family Farms, who have also been supplying us with some of the sweetest peaches we’ve ever tasted!
Joining our Fall 2023 CSA is a great way to get into the groove of seasonal eating with a serious dose of convenience – your fresh vegetables and/or meat and eggs are all packaged up for you and ready to be enjoyed each week. We even often delivery to your door if you live within one of our delivery regions, or you can pick it up at more than a dozen locations throughout Central Kentucky, Louisville and Cincinnati.
Three sizes of our Fall 2023 CSA Vegetable Share are available:
- Mini: Designed for single adults or couples who eat out often. This smallest-size CSA share contains a variety of vegetables each week but is intended to never overwhelm your refrigerator. It’s a good introduction to a CSA Farm Share and new-to-you vegetables.
- Regular: Designed to provide a couple or a small household most of their weekly vegetable needs. You’ll receive a larger variety and quantity of vegetables than with the mini share.
- Robust: Designed for a larger family or strictly vegetarian household, a Robust CSA Share covers most of your weekly vegetable needs. This size generally contains the same variety of vegetables as a Regular CSA Share but in larger amounts.
Then you can add on an optional meat share or an egg share to be included in your weekly box.
Well meaning folks ask us frequently what the benefits of being an Elmwood Stock Farm CSA member are, to which we always answer: Many! But here are our favorites:
