As a small family farm, we might surprise you with the number of ways you can bring home our fresh, organic produce. Some of these fresh food avenues fly under the radar. Below are all five ways that anyone can use to secure a healthy, yet tasty, bounty of products straight from the people who grew them.
The Farm Store
You may not have known this, but yes! Elmwood has a store right here on the farm, and we’d love for you to stop by. We’re open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. On Tuesdays, we stay open until 6:30 p.m. for folks who are busy during the workday.
Just outside Georgetown, KY, along Paris Pike, look for the Elmwood Stock Farm sign.
Inside a renovated horse barn on a gentle hill, eggs, leafy greens, fermented goods, and all our seasonal produce stay stocked in a charming refrigerated case. Walls of organic, grass-fed, and grass-finished beef and lamb are on display in glowing open-front freezers. Organic, pastured chicken, turkey, and pork sit tidily beside them. Coffee, pasta sauce, salsa, bread, garlic powder, and more line the shelves of our classic country farm store.
The store experience goes beyond the building. The short drive to it takes you past several rolling livestock pastures, and depending on the year, a field or two of colorful crop rows. Our peacocks and peahens hang out near the entrance, brilliant and unbothered by vehicles. We’re blessed with such a pastoral scene, and we’d rather like to share it with you.
We hope you come see us at 3636 Paris Pike, Georgetown, KY 40324.
Farmers Market
Okay, everyone knows this one. But we’d be remiss not to talk about this beloved tradition. Farmers markets serve as a direct supply line from nearby farms to busy city centers, and they foster connection between those communities and the people and land that grow our food. Plus, it pairs great with brunch.
Elmwood Stock Farm has been selling at farmers markets since 1994. These days, you can find us at market year-round.
All summer this year, you can find us at five different markets across three different cities: Georgetown, Lexington, and Cincinnati. In the winter, our Cincinnati and Lexington markets transition indoors, so we can keep bringing you fresh, leafy greens and hearty winter crops. See our Farmers Market page to view our most up-to-date schedule.
Community Supported Agriculture
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is the holy grail of supporting your local food system. It’s a fabulous, low-effort way to secure wholesome fruits and veggies from the local farm, especially the fan favorites that go fast at farmers market. We have so much to say about the advantages of CSA: see this blog post on compatible lifestyles and this one on the secret benefits of a CSA.
As a means to engage with your local organic farm, the Elmwood CSA Farm Share program is the most powerful way to do so. We offer CSA year-round. It’s a fully customizable, pause-able, weekly bundle of produce, packaged right after harvest. And it makes our growing season that much more successful because our members care to give us that up-front investment. As thanks, members get first pick of everything we grow.
Get your weekly share reliably hand-delivered for a small fee, or pick up for free at one of our many hubs, including the Farm Store!
