Why You Should Join Our Summer CSA

Summer is both figuratively and literally one of our sweetest seasons. The days are longer, warmer, and all of our favorites are in full abundance. We feel lucky that we get to share our plentiful summer produce with you in so many ways including at our farm store and the farmers market but the absolute best way to enjoy it all is through our Summer CSA.

CSA stands for community supported agriculture, which means that by purchasing a share upfront, you’re helping us better plan financially for the coming harvest. Of course, being a shareholder also means that you get an all-access pass to seasonal, organic, and locally grown and raised vegetables, berries, meat, eggs and more. Think of it like a subscription to our farm’s harvest all summer long!

All this to say, we’re excited to announce that sign ups are NOW OPEN for Summer 2024 CSA shares! Our Summer 2024 CSA runs from May to October with three sizes available, depending on you and your family’s needs. When you sign up you’ll also have the ability to add on an egg and/or meat or flower share. We understand that many factors go into choosing where to source your food and so we are always grateful for your support – and love to reward our shareholders with exciting perks. As a CSA shareholder, you…

  • Get first dibs on all of our offerings before the general public does
  • Get to customize your share each week to your specifications
  • Can pick up your share from more than a dozen locations or have it delivered
  • Receive an exclusive newsletter where you’ll get recipes, food storage tips, crop news and other items of interest sent to your inbox each week

We can’t wait for you to join and enjoy our delicious and highly sought after summer harvest! In the meantime, while we’ve got summer on the brain, we figured we’d share some of our favorite (and some of our most popular!) summer foods that we’re looking forward to enjoying in the coming months.

STRAWBERRIES

Strawberries, Quart

There’s something special about fresh-picked strawberries, and ours are a customer favorite year after year! We love to eat them plain, but their natural sweetness makes them perfect in strawberry shortcake.

Heirloom tomatoes

Tomatoes, Heirloom

Is there anything better than taking a bite of a fresh, ripe heirloom tomato in the summer? We love to enjoy ours with just a little salt and pepper but the patriarch of the farm, Cecil Bell, insists on only fixing burgers with the black and purple varieties.

Asparagus

From the grill to the sauté pan to simply shaved on salads, asparagus is wildly versatile but always incredibly delicious.

Broccoli

One of our go-tos for salads, stir fries, just plain snacking and everything in between.

Eggs

Elmwood Stock Farm eggs have a bit of a cult-like following but it’s not too hard to see why. Our free-range hens live outdoors and enjoy fresh air, sunshine, green grass, and wholesome, organic and non-GMO grains. P.S: CSA shareholders always get first dibs on eggs in the summertime, which more often than not sell out before they reach the general public!
